North Texas Soil and Site Planning Guide
Between McKinney and Durant the ground changes character three times, and each character has its own rules for building. The table below maps the corridor's major soil situations to their construction implications: what each ground does to slabs, drives, walls, and drainage, and what the scope should say about it.
Soil mapping for any specific parcel is free and public through the USDA's Web Soil Survey, and reading it is the first ten minutes of planning any project here. This guide translates what the map says into what the dirt work should do.
